MONEY TREE SPRINGS FOR CREATIVE STUDIOS
A local company has invented a new personal finance application for the iPhone, which makes controlling your bank account much easier – and all from its home at Friar Gate Studios.
Ashley Sims and Micky Sheehan from Iledge, who use the studio’s hot desking facilities on Ford Street, have created ‘The Money Tree’, an application designed to give the user total control over the money they have in their current account.
The application, which can be used on the iPhone, Blackberry or PDA system, has been designed to encourage people to save and is a user-friendly alternative to the sometimes-intimidating world of ISA’s and savings accounts.
The Money Tree works by encouraging users to create ‘leaves’, which are essentially mini saving accounts branching out of their current account. The user can have as many ‘leaves’ as they like and can access them at any time.
The application uses the user’s current account login to access their available funds and all transactions are conducted over encrypted security via https.
Creators, Ashley and Micky are now looking to offer the application to banks in the hope that they can offer it as a bolt on service to their customers and give them the freedom to move their money into savings quickly and easily.
Commenting on the new application, Ashley Sims said:
“We are delighted with the finished product and are excited to show people how the application could help them take back control of their finances and make saving a whole lot easier.
“The application is a fun alternative to the unmanageable and often confusing scenario of saving for a rainy day. The Money Tree is a perfect cartoon narrative to simple saving and money management solutions,” added Ashley.
Ann Bhatti, centre manager at Friar Gate Studios, added:
“I would like to congratulate Iledge on creating such an innovative product for the applications industry. It is a huge achievement for them and I look forward to being able to installing it.”
