Miss Fortune
Miss Fortune appeared on the scene in 2005. Now in their 4th year of business, they´re celebrating the launch of their 3rd commercial collection, catering for rockabilly & psychobilly guys and gals. The clothing takes inspiration from many areas including; rock ´n´ roll, horror, tattoo culture and burlesque. Click on the images below to view.
Based at Friar Gate Studios, Miss Fortune have worked extensively on their new spring/summer 2009 collection. The designs are reminiscent of 1930-50´s era fashions with classy high waists and a curvaceous fit which would prove flattering on any wearer. As part of the new collection Miss Fortune are introducing their burlesque inspired range, ‘Shake It!’. They have also introduced Hawaiian prints and a new subtle black-on-black leopard-skin print fabric.
The new range, designed at the end of 2008, will be launched at the London Edge trade fair in February 2009. The London Edge trade fair was launched in 2000 in response to a cry from the alternative and clubwear markets for something that would cater exclusively to them. A perfect arena in which to launch Miss Fortune´s niche market clothing.
Laura Brandreth, the creative force behind Miss Fortune, started her fashion design career by studying a Degree in Sustainable Design and Practice at the University of Derby, where she graduated in 2004. She went on to complete a HND in Fashion Technology at New College Nottingham. Graduating in 2006 with a Distinction profile she was awarded the Outstanding Achievement Award for her great performance.
Miss Fortune exhibited for the first time at Bank´s Mill, in Derby in 2005. The positive feedback received made it clear there was a market for Miss Fortune´s quirky designs and they were here to stay.
The renowned success and continued growth of Miss Fortune has led Laura to exhibit her ranges at charity fashion shows in the UK and Chicago.
Miss Fortune clothing is manufactured locally in the East Midlands and is now elling in independent retailers across the U.K. as well as multiple destinations across Europe including; Paris, Rotterdam, Helsinki, Berlin, Stockholm and Prague.
