CACTUS IMAGES WORKS WITH TWO BRITISH ICONS
A Derby photography company has been selected to work with two British icons on a special project to commemorate the forthcoming Royal Wedding.
Cactus Images, which is based within Friar Gate Studios on Ford Street in the city, has been commissioned to carry out the photography of the ‘Royal Wedding Celebration Clock’, which is the result of a unique collaboration by Royal Crown Derby and clockmakers Smith of Derby.
Royal Crown Derby and Smith of Derby, both giants in their respective fields of porcelain and grand horology, have combined their unique crafts to create the timepiece in celebration of the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton on 29 April.
The new weight-driven timepiece, with its design based on the original turret clocks of the 17th and 18th century, is meticulously hand built and marries new technology and three hundred year old techniques. The bone china dial and cameo on the clock is decorated in Royal Crown Derby hand-finished livery.
Images of the unique time piece, taken by Cactus Images, can now be previewed on Smith of Derby’s website (www.smithofderby.com) and will be used in the marketing of this limited edition timepiece.
Commenting on the launch of the imagery, Angela Jenkins at Cactus Images said:
“It has been a pleasure to work with two companies so steeped in heritage and tradition and we are delighted with the finished results.”
Ann Bhatti, centre manager added:
“We are thrilled to see Cactus Images involved in such a high profile project. The images capture every aspect of this elegant time piece and provide an excellent showcase of Chris and Angela’s fantastic photography skills.”
Cactus Images was founded by Chris Howard and Angela Jenkins in 2008 whilst they were studying their third year of commercial photography at Derby University. The company started life at Banks Mill Studio and moved to Friar Gate Studios in 2010.
