Friar Gate Studios is home to some of Derby’s most exciting young creative businesses – web and fashion designers, film and radio producers, advertising agencies, architects and many more. Together, they represent the ‘creative industries’, one of the fastest growing business sectors in the region.
In the heart of the city's commercial district, Friar Gate Studios offers affordable modern office facilities and a creative environment for ambitious creative businesses.
Friar Gate Studios opened to the creative industries in November 2006. Although the project is led by Derby City Council and funded by a basket of public sector finance including a £1m grant from Derby & Derbyshire Economic Partnership (DDEP), it is running as a commercial venture with a ‘private sector’ image.
