Mobile computing, Apps and your business
In 2012 – 45 billion smartphone apps were downloaded worldwide – twice the number in 2011 In 2013 – mobile phones are expected to overtake PCs as the most common way people access the Internet *
If you’re in business and want to find out more about mobile computing and ‘App’ development – and their relevance to your company – join us at the next free networking evening at Friar Gate Studios on Tuesday 9th April.
Our guest speaker will be Simon Morris, director of Derby’s Strawdog Studios, one of the UK’s leading mobile applications development companies.
Simon’s company honed its skills in mobile games development (and achieved No.1 ranking on Apple’s Appstore for the popular ‘Peppa Pig’ children’s TV brand), and since 2012 has been developing smartphone apps for business customers, including a number of large brands and smaller companies.
Simon will outline the major trends and technologies in mobile computing and apps development, and explain why mobile computing is the future of computing. He will talk about how businesses can embrace mobile technology in their own sales, marketing and communications, and discuss emerging concepts such as ‘gamification’, whereby game design techniques can be used to better engage business customers online.
Simon Morris is co-founder of Strawdogs Studios. He has over 25 years experience as a software engineer and systems architect. Founded in 2003, the business employs 12 people and is based in the Penthouse at Friar Gate Studios. The company’s business application development is carried out by FirstApp – which is a division of Strawdogs.
